Tanzania Human Rights Defenders Coalition (THRDC)
is looking for a creative website designer to develop a website.
THRDC is a non- partisan civil society organisation registered and operates in accordance with the non - governmental operations acts (NGOs) of 2002. The Organisation acts as an umbrella organisation for more than 115 Human Rights Defenders (HRDs) Organisations in the country. Among other things the Organisation aims at defending and protecting HRDs in Tanzania.
Duties
• Drawing up detailed website specifications;
• Designing page layouts including text size and colours;
• Designing graphics, animations and manipulating digital photographs for the website designed;
• Presenting initial design ideas to the Organisation;
• Meeting relevant legal requirements such as accessibility standards, freedom of information and privacy;
• Designing the website's visual imagery and ensuring it's in line with the requirements of the client;
• Testing the website to ensure it is working;
• Training client's staff on how to use the website;
• Using current design trends to design the website;
• Offer Occasional Continual professional development to keep up to date with new software developments.
• Create a web pages responsive to variety of different devices
• Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
• Integration of multimedia, social media, and mobile development into THRDC website
NB: DIGITAL SECURITY AND WEBSITE REGISTRATION
• Management of site security; compliance with latest encryptions standards and hosting of site on secure servers
• Domaine name registration/renewal
Requirements
• Proven Web Design experience
• Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
• Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
• Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
• Up-to-date with the latest Web trends, techniques, and technologies
• BS/MS in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or a Visual Arts subject
• Prior contracting and/or work related experience with organizations of similar size/scope. Strong attention to details, customer service orientation and planning and organizing are essential.
