Iringa Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (IRUWASA) is a Government Institution which
has the duty of providing potable water and sanitation services at affordable prices to the residents of Iringa Municipality for enhancing their health and quality of life. SENIOR ENGINEER
Reports to: Technical Manager
Duties and Responsibilities
i. To assess water and sanitation customers' needs and prepare conceptual designs, studies, including extension of water and sewerage systems and layout requirements for capital and operation cost projections.
ii. To design treatment facilities, pumping stations, reservoirs, distribution and collection systems and confirm designs using modeling techniques.
iii. To prepare engineering reports, drawings and specifications for water and waste water projects. .
iv. To assist in preparation of financial proposals.
v. To participate in public presentations to make the public aware of the water and sewerage works and possible impacts during construction.
vi. To inspect water supply and waste water infrastructure and prepare summary report of findings including cost estimates for repair.
vii. To prepare and update operator and maintenance manual.
viii. To participate in facility starts-ups, operator training process and equipment troubleshooting
ix. To prepare monthly progress reports.
x. To prepare designs, drawings, cost estimates and bills of quantities.
xi. To carry out cross-checks and vetting of technical and financial proposals.
xii. To supervise the design review and construction and insure that designs are in line with National and lnternational Standards.
xiii. To review design reports and examine the reviews and consultants' recommendations and advise the Technical Manager accordingly.
xiv. To review and approve contracts documents for the supply of goods, works and services.
xv. To conduct periodic work site inspections to determine adherence to project objectives, works standards and safety practices.
xvi. To perform other related duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Academic Qualifications, Age Limit and Work Experience
i. University Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma majoring in Civil, Mechanical. Environmental, Sanitary or Water Resources Engineering from a recognized higher learning Institution,
ii. The candidate must be registered with the Engineers Registration Board of Tanzania (ERB) as a Professional Engineer in the above mentioned fields.
iii. Not less than four (4) years work experience in a relevant field.
iv. Good interpersonal, communication skills, computer skills and knowledge in application of engineering software;
v. Age between 30 and 45 years.
