EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
POSITION NAME: Field Assistant (10 positions)
LOCATION:Tanga Region to be based in rural areas in Handeni, Pangani, Mkinga, Lushoto, Korogwe and Muheza districts.
ACCOUNTABILITY: Field Assistants will be accountable to WFP IT Officerin Tanga and 4H Programme Manager

1.0.Background:
Tanzania 4H Organisation is supporting the implementation of Global Learning XPRIZE in Tanga Region. The project is being implemented jointly with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST), United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) and XPRIZE Foundation.
Global Learning XPRIZE, in Tanga Region (Mkinga, Pangani, Muheza, Korogwe, Handeni and Lushoto Districts), is promoting Early Learning Through the use of Innovative Technologies. The main objective of the project is to improve access to education and learning and find cost and time effective Information and CommunicationsTechnology (ICT) solutions to address the learning crisis of out-of-school children in Tanzania and the world.
The project will be in nearly 145remote communities, reaching children with limited access to school. As such, Tanzania 4H Organisation with head offices in Tanga will assist to provide logistics support to the 6 project districts of Tanga region, namely; Mkinga, Muheza, Korogwe, Handeni, Pangani and Lushoto. With this support, Tanzania 4H is currently hiring 10 Project Assistants on contract basis.
2.0.Purpose of the Job:
To provide field project support to Global Learning XPRIZE in Tanga Region.
3.0.Specific DutiesWill Include:
Field Assistants will perform the following duties:
3.1.Will be engaged day-to-day implementation of project activities in villages targeted by the project.
3.2.Will be obliged to prepare and submita report and other data on weekly basis or as per other data collection tools and reporting format.
3.3.Field Assistant will be available to supportWFP or UNISECO Staff during field visits to project sites and villages at a specific time when needed to do so; providing them with necessary and accurate information concerning project activities, outputs and possible outcomes.
3.4.Ensure that every child and village participating in the project has a working tablet and solar station at all times during the duration of the project.
3.5.Visit every assigned village at least once per week and respond to any urgent call from other villages as soon as possible.
3.6.Driving/Riding motorbike in a safe and responsible manner at all times.
3.7.Ensuring regular maintenance of the project motorbike as well as arranging for regular servicing of the motorbike
3.8.Keepproper records of distances travelled, refuelling, and servicing (maintaining log book of each service vehicle on daily basis).
3.9.Will ensure sound running of the motorbike assigned and arrange minor repairs where necessary (Incl. check oil and tyres properly and keep the service motorbike in clean condition)
3.10.Will ensure equipment (motorbikes, motorbike support and safety gadgets, solar equipment and tablets) are in good working condition at alltimes; immediately replacing broken/ problematic tablets.
3.11.Fix minor technical issues with solar stations and if cannot resolve, immediately report to WFP IT staff for support.
3.12.Liaisewith 4H, WFP and other partners on various project matters in a project locality; including, communication any ICT issues faced in the village.
3.13.Undertake logistical support to designated events according to stated requirements.
3.14.Will keep track of timely car insurance renewals (Update monthly mileage records).
3.15.Will respond or report any requirement from the village, 4H or WFPand support any possible troubleshooting.
3.16.Will be readily available to support project at any village as early as possible.
3.17.Will perform other assignments as will be assigned by the employer or her working partners in the project.

4.0.Professional Qualification and Experience:
4.1.Minimum ordinary level Certificate of secondary education
4.2.Expert motorcycle driver. Minimum two years of experience with riding motorbike (in rough terrain)
4.3.Ability to perform minor services on motorbike like changingtires, changing or replacing chainsetc.
4.4.Clean class A Driving License
4.5.Computer literacy (word, excel and email) required
4.6.Quick learner and good problem solver
4.7.Literate in Kiswahiliand basic comprehension of English required
4.8.Good communication skills
4.9.Able to work well in stressful and fast paced environments
4.10.Basic IT and electric knowledge (experience working with Android tablets, computers, software and solar) required.
