Program Officer – Reach for Change Foundation - Tanzania

Position summary
Reach for Change seeks a Program Officer who brings a combination of entrepreneurial spirit, intellectual curiosity, strategic thinking, passion for social change, focus on tangible results, collaborative “can do” attitude and a desire for continuous improvement.
Based in Dar es Salaam , Tanzania and reporting to the Reach for Change Program Manager, the Program Officer will help manage the day to day delivery and development of the Reach for Change program in Tanzania together with partners in Tanzania. This includes managing and monitoring the implementation of the program (search, selection and support of social entrepreneurs; and the mobilization of people to be change agents to transform those countries for children) and building strong relationships with key stakeholders within our senior regional partner Millicom and other companies as well as in the social and governmental sectors.

 Primary responsibilities

  • Participate in and support the Reach for Change program in Tanzania with the goal of mobilizing a movement of change agents to transform those countries for children.
  • Support the Reach for Change incubator and search and selection of social entrepreneurs in partnership with Reach for Change Country Program Manager.
  • Provide support to Reach for Change social entrepreneurs, finalists and applicants to grow their enterprises and contribute to social change in partnership with the Reach for Change Program Manager.
  • Support the monitoring and reporting of the progress of the operations and indicators, and contribute to processes to measure, learn from and improve impact.
  • Help develop relationships with key stakeholders and partners in Tanzania to advocate the program, recruit their support and execute program strategy.
  • Support execution of the country communication plan, to drive the Incubator program, successful partner relations and external communication goals.
  • Sharing of ideas and experience on successful implementation of the programs across the markets.
  • Other duties as may be assigned by the Program Manager or his/her designee.


 Qualifications and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the practices and contributions of social entrepreneurs
  • Good project management and interpersonal skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and creative mindset
  • Ability to manage multiple sometimes conflicting priorities and work cooperatively to build networks and satisfy needs of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently
  • Good IT skills and ability to quickly understand and use web based applications and platforms
  • Experience working with social media platforms, such as facebook, twitter and youtube
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Spoken and written fluency in English


 Experience and Education

  • A university degree in business, economics, project management or a related discipline
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible positions, with a distinguished record of relevant accomplishments in the business sector and/or in the nonprofit sector
  • Experience from project managing, rolling out, leading or coordinating program operations
  • Solid knowledge in and experience from cultural practices in Tanzania.
  • Must be IT savvy.
