VSO Tanzania is recruiting a technical adviser to grow and develop VSO’s work on social accountability and youth engagement at country level. The role will provide technical support to VSO’s Programme Managers, Project Managers and Volunteers in participatory approaches and transformational programme design, and methodological support in social accountability analysis. Additional support in other areas may be needed, such as power, stakeholder mapping, resilience and systems approaches to development.
The role will involve some training and capacity building of key staff, volunteers and Primary Actors specifically youth in line with VSO’s global social accountability approach and People First Principles.

Volunteer role: National Resilience Volunteer
Role overview
The International Resilience Volunteer will closely work with VSO programme teams and partners to strengthen and mainstream VSO’s approach to resilience. Ajira
The Ideal candidate will carry out pilot risk and capacity assessments among communities and partner organisations in order to contribute towards building preparedness plans. This would involve training partner organisations and community representatives in understanding the different concepts of resilience, carrying out assessments, and engaging in discussions regarding perceptions of risks and preparedness to build on the importance of resilience.

Role overview
You will work with the Project implementing partners to coach local SME’s in improving their financial management capacity and their ability to access financing, win contracts, budget, and report financially. This will entail direct interaction with various SMEs that are at the inception or early stages of their operations that will benefit from financial insight to reach the next level of growth. Role overview
You will be supporting selected Small and Medium Enterprises (SME’s) in developing and / or improving a brand that will stand out in the market. Also developing concepts, graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, product packaging and websites. By working in this role, you will contribute to enhance the training and facilitation skills of highly motivated Tanzanians. When they are more empowered, they can deliver more and better training so that the SMEs can grow, You will be working with national Volunteer in this role.

Volunteer role: Business Management Adviser
Role overview
You will coach various SMEs to grow their enterprises in food processing and natural resource product production. You will establish working relationships with local SMEs through the introduction of SIDO and the field manager and build a mentor-mentee relationship.
By utilizing your management skills, SMEs will learn from your business insights in the production and sale of goods. By working with national volunteers, you will be supported in some language and cultural interpretation when fostering relationships with various local SMEs.
This role does entail a solid understanding of business fundamentals, as well as some work experience as an entrepreneur or in manufacturing, to properly advise SMEs on the growth of their businesses.
