II. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE

Scope:

IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration
and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental
partners. In September 2016, the organization became a Related Organization to
the United Nations UN. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly
migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice
to governments and migrants to promote international cooperation on migration
issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration issues,
and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees
and internally displaced persons.

Context:

Under the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator Head of Programme
Coordination Unit, and the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission, the
Programme Support Assistant will assist with all activities within the IOM
Tanzania Programme Coordination Unit PCU.

III. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

1\. Provide administrative and logistical support to all PCU projects
activities, as requested.

2\. Draft reports and other documents as requested.

3\. Assist with the drafting of thematic information sheets and articles for
the IOM Tanzania website and social media page, as well as for media briefing.

4\. Assist preparing thematic inputs for UN interagency meetings and write
minutes where needed.

5\. Draft official correspondence, and information sharing, with partner
institutions pertaining PCU project activities.

6\. Participate in relevant forums and meetings – including those pertaining
to ONE UN coordination – as needed.

7\. Assist in the delivery and implementation of the various PCU project
activities, including activities to be undertaken under the PRM-funded Africa
Regional Migration Program.

8\. Provide support with the logistical and operational activities needed for
AVRR of identified applicants/returnees.

9\. Assist with the counselling of returnees; support early identification of
complex vulnerabilities to facilitate effective returnee referrals for
enhanced assistance and strong maintenance of case-management.

10\. Facilitate the delivery of the post-arrival assistance for AVRR
beneficiaries.

11\. Collect timely and accurate AVRR data, and prepare it for further
processing, analysis, reporting and filing purposes.

12\. Carry out duty travel as may be assigned.

13\. Perform any other duties that may be assigned.

V. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· University degree in Refugee and Migration studies, Law, Sociology,
International Relations, Political/Social Science, Economics, or similar
fields with at least two years of relevant professional experience. Or, high
school diploma with at least four years of relevant professional experience;

· Experience in implementation of migration related programmes;

· Ability to establish and maintain strong working relations with relevant
Government and Non-Governmental counterparts, international organizations,
civil society or private sector entities;

· Familiarity with national and international policy and legal frameworks
relevant to migration;

· Familiarity in communications, drafting, writing and revising reports and
documents with clarity, conciseness and precision in English and Kiswahili;

· Proficient in Microsoft Windows and Ms Office applications;

· Previous experience with the UN/ other international organizations will be
considered an asset.

VI. LANGUAGES

· Knowledge of both languages English and Kiswahili is required
