Himiza Social Justice is a non-profit making organization striving to promote social justice in the

community while Rafiki Attorneys & Co. Advocates is a law firm engaged in provision of legal services. The two have their headquarters in Geita, Tanzania. Himiza Social justice and Rafiki Attorneys & Co. Advocates are desirous of recruiting volunteers, legal counsel and legal officer as described below.




A.    Rafiki Attorneys & Co. Advocates:

1.  POSITION:LEGAL COUNSEL-1 Post (LITIGATION)

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

(i)           An Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and subordinate courts thereto save for primary courts.

(ii)          An active member of Tanganyika Law Society (TLS), the Bar Association of Tanzania Mainland.

(iii)           Quick to learn and have strong kills related to analysis and interpretation of laws, legal documents and instruments.

(iv)          Must have the ability and confidence to practice before the courts of law and competent tribunals.

(v)           Must be a person of high integrity, accountability, humble and respect to all human beings.

(vi)            Have strong interpersonal skills, customer oriented mind-set, excellent problems solving capacity as well as analytical and organizational skills.

(vii)         A person to be hired must have an ability to work independently, and under minimal supervision.

(viii)            The successful candidate must have good planning and organizing skills, strong analytical and leadership skill as well as strong command of both spoken and written English and Swahili.


2.    POSITION:        LEGAL OFFICER-1 Post (RESEARCH)
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:

(i)       A holder of Bachelor of Laws Degree (LL.B) from any recognized university by the Tanzania Council of Universities (TCU) and must have completed the Law School of Tanzania for the applicants from Tanzania.

(ii)    Must be a person of high integrity, accountability, humble and respect to all human beings.

(iii)    Have strong interpersonal skills, customer oriented mind-set, excellent problems solving capacity as well as analytical and organizational skills.

(iv)  Quick to learn and have strong kills related to analysis and interpretation of laws, legal documents and instruments.

(v)    A person to be hired must have an ability to work independently, and under minimal supervision.

(vi)  The successful candidate must have strong research and analytical skills, good planning and organizing skills, strong analytical and leadership skill as well as strong command of both spoken and written English and Swahili.

(vii) Must have proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power point, Publisher) and Internet Explore.

B. Himiza Social Justice:
POSTION: VOLUNTEERS:
  • Himiza Social Justice Call for volunteers aims at inviting qualified and motivated young men and women to work in its programs namely Legal and Policy Advocacy (currently the main activity implemented is provision of legal aid in Geita Region), Capacity Building and
  • Community Empowerment, Fundraising and Resource Mobilization, Youth Engagement and Monitoring and Evaluation section.
  • In this occasion therefore Himiza would like to invite qualified young men and women to volunteer in the above mentioned programs. Interested candidates are advised to choose and apply to one of the programs named above-which best suit their qualifications and experiences. However, we are particularly interested with candidates skilled in Fundraising and Resource Mobilization with bias in strong skills in proposal writing and donor management funds.
  • Selection assessment will be done on the strength of commitment and motivation
  • demonstrated by the candidate in the application. Prior volunteer experiences will be an added advantage.
