1. Background

Inyonga Beekeeping Association (IBA) is a Community-Based Organisation dealing with
beekeeping, ecotoursim and other sustainable generating income activities in Mlele District. In 2010, IBA has been mandated by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism to manage a beekeeping zone of 850km2 established in Mlele Forest (MBKZ). Through the management of the MBKZ, IBA is pursuing the following objectives:

(i) To conserve the local forest resources and
(ii) To support the development of sustainable economic initiatives able to contribute         to the local livelihood improvement.

Since 2002, the Association for Development of Protected Areas (ADAP) has been supporting IBA. ADAP is a Swiss based NGO whose main objective is to promote sustainable development of Protected Areas through community participation in the management of Natural Resources.

2. Specific duties and responsibilities
CBO’s capacity building
1.  To Consults with relevant specialists/consultants externally and within the Network to gather the in formations relevant to the implementation of the restructuring and development of the merging between IBA and Inyonga Ecotourism Association into new joint Association.

2.  To develop the annual work plans and budget with clear priorities and ensure their efficiency during implementation
3.  To Support IBA members in planning, implementation and report writing of their activities.
4.  To Support in Community sensitization on management of MBKZ as well as awareness on the use of modern beehives and modern beekeeping for better outputs of members.
5.  To prepare project proposal and submit it to the relevant donor OR respond to the calls for project whenever possible for funding purposes.
6.  To ensure a fair respect and protection of IBA’s interests in its relationships with other stakeholders, his work should ensure the safeguarding of IBA interests in any negotiating process with other stakeholders (government, private, etc.).
7.  To Prepare and send the IBA implementation/other reports to donor
8.  To respect all IBA and ADAP project financial and management procedures


Monitoring

  1. Develop project monitoring plan (PMP) of the projects in line with project Logical Framework Approach (LFA) and consulting with programme team and partners.
  2. 2. Coordinate with Implementing Partners (IPs) for collecting data against agreed indicators
  3. Engage with IPs to collect and manage essential data of their respective activities/ projects
  4. Ensure quality of data collected by partners.
  5. Provide feedback to partners and programme teams on projects’ performance based on monitoring data findings
  6. Assist in building capacity of IPs on Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PM&E).

Reporting and Documentation

1. To develop quarterly, six-month and annual reports of IBA
2. To develop and share field visit reports with relevant authority
3. To upload key reports to The Source (ininternetet)

Learning and Sharing

1. Share learning from M&E process with the wider team
2. Support partners in improving learning and sharing mechanisms in their projects
3. Promote culture of two way learning in the organisation

Contribution to Effectiveness of the Programme/project

1.    Work collaboratively with different programmes for strengthening integration and cross-learning in programmes
2.    Proactively volunteer for various team activities
3.    Show an eagerness to take on any other tasks assigned by the line manager

Mlele Beekeeping Zone management (MBKZ-management)


  1. To supervise the management of the Mlele Beekeeping Zone. He/she will make sure that the Beekeeping Zone is managed in accordance with its management plan and that all regulations are duly followed, this encompasses follow up of judiciary processes in case of illegal users arrest and prosecution;
  2. To seek the establishment of a joint venture agreement with the Wildlife Division on hunting taxes redistribution so as to ensure sustainable funding of MBKZ management
  3. To inform the villagers on the new regulation within the Beekeeping Zone and that they behave accordingly;

4.    To receive, process and prepare report of camera trap and dispatch them to Geneva.
5.    To ensure proper translation from Swahili to English of the Village Game Scouts reports (patrols, surveillance, camera traps)

3. Requirements
-        Bachelor degree in community development, natural resource management or relevant field
-        Proven track record of experience in project management
-        Proven track record of experience in community development
-        Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with rural communities
-        Excellent command of written and spoken Kiswahili and English is essential, understanding of Konongo and Sukuma is an advantage
-        Willingness to be based in remote rural area in Western Tanzania
