The Company was established in April 2001.ZCL is a wholly owned state enterprise of the Government of the Republic of Zambia, supervised by the Ministry of Transport and Communications based in Lusaka. The Company's current corporate head office and its main operations center, Mukuba Depot, is located in Kurasini area, in Oar es Salaam, Tanzania next to the dockyard. ZCL recently incorporated a company in Zambia and current office is based in Ndola.
Hitherto, the Company has been handling mainly mineral cargo, especially copper, but over the years the Company has diversified its revenue base to include agricultural related cargo and other general cargo.
The Company offers a wide-ranging freight logistics services including clearing & forwarding, handling, stuffing into containers of cargo or container de-stuff, storage of cargo and transportation of cargo to the port from the depot. The Company offers also through services from the port of a Dar es Salaam to Zambia and Democratic Republic of Congo. The Company is a registered Gross Weight Verifier with SUMATRA.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Preparation of annual maintenance schedules for all ZCL motor vehicles and equipment;
Drawing up the list of workshop critical spares and supplies, and initiating their procurement timely;
• Carrying out mechanical works as required to user;
• Carrying out routine vehicle and equipment checks before use, and resolving any identified defects;
Cleaning the entire workshop area, and maintaining good housekeeping therein;
• Ensuring the safe return of all workshop tools/equipment to the Workshop Storage area after every shift;
• Custodian of all workshop tools/machines and equipment:
• Carry out regular maintenance of the machinery, vehicles and trucks as per required maintenance schedules
• Assist management in the budget process for workshop requirements
• Preparation of annual maintenance schedules for all ZCL motor vehicles and equipment;
• Ensuring the workshop and its surroundings are safe and free from any hazardous conditions or substances;
• Drawing up the list of workshop critical spares and supplies, and initiating their procurement timely;
• Ensuring proper supervision of staff falling under Workshop
• Ensuring daily, weekly and monthly reports are done with respect to the status of the equipment
• Assist management in the control of fuel, oils and other consumables
• Allocating and management of equipment as per designed system controls in place
• Carrying out any other official duties assigned to you by the Operations Manager or his designee.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
• Five (3) years of experience in a similar position form reputable company.
• Secondary Education and Diploma in Automotive Mechanics/Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanics.
• Person of high integrity and ethical standards
• Good command of English and Swahili.
