Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences is inviting applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to be considered for employment to fill the following vacant posts:-

1. SENIOR PLANNING OFFICER  I       -  1 POST


a) Required Qualification


Holder of the University Master Degree in any of the following:- Economics,   Educational Planning, Engineering Management, Statistics, Project Management , Strategic Planning.



b)  Experience: Five (5)  years working  experience in similar post.



c)  Duties and responsibilities


      Formulates and co-ordinates corporate plans and strategies based upon priorities for resource allocation to various functional programmes.

      Co-ordinates preparation of recurrent and capital development budgets and prepares midterm cost adjustments.

      Participates in educational and administrative efficiency studies.

      Co-ordinates the preparation of project write-ups

      Identifies problems related to goals and policies and makes proposals for review

      Advisers on suitable investment opportunities for the University and sets necessary criteria and guidelines 

      Compiles project profiles including sources of funding, custodian of agreements with donors and monitors reports.

      Assists the Principal Planning Officer in managing the General Planning sub-system of the Directorate of Planning and Investment.

      Assists as part of project teams and on occasion project manage a team on major development schemes, providing professional input into negotiations, motivating the project team, agreeing timetables, and ensuring the quality of timeliness of output as appropriate.

      Performs any other duties as assigned by ones reporting officer.

2.  HEALTH LABORATORY  SCIENTIFIC OFFICER GRADE  I  –  2 POSTS.




     a)    Required Qualification


Holder of Bachelor degree/Advanced Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences or Advanced Diploma from a recognized Institution. Must have  been acquired  registration as a Graduate Health Laboratory Scientific Officer by competent relevant board/authority



   b)      Experience: Three (3) years working  experience in similar post



c)      Duties and Responsibilities

              Organizes practical for undergraduate students.
              Participates in consultancy projects under close supervision of senior staff.
              Assists in consultancy, research and development in health field. 
              Assists Academic staff in their research and development activities.
              Plans and supervises maintenance of laboratory/ workshop equipments and facilities.
              Prepares manuscripts, laboratory practical and other relevant needs.
         Instructs undergraduate and postgraduate students during practical.
       Develops and modifies student’s experiments and experimental rigns in consultation with   academic members of staff.
              Supervises and orients Technicians and Artisans in their duties.
              Conducts on the job training for Technicians.
        Guides technicians in their daily activities
              Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by one’s reporting officer.


     3. LEGAL OFICER  GRADE II – 1 POST

a) Required Qualification


Holder of LLB degree plus one (1) year intern-ship/law school



b) Duties and Responsibilities



          Index, file, register Government notice and all other legal documents and ensure their safe custody.
          Compile evidence relevant for court cases involving the University.
          Attend to registration of all legal documents and probate matters.
          Take charge of documents and correspondences of already assigned cases.
          Deal with all legal routine correspondences addressed to the University Drafts prescribed legal documents, forms and contract.
          Follow up on documents and proceedings in courts.
   Present the University in legal actions and Court cases
        Prepare legal briefs and provide legal advice.
          Liaise with retained external legal agencies.
          Prepare drafts amendments to the University Charter and its regulations made there under.
          Scrutinize and effect registration of leases and transfer of properties in liaison with Estate Manager and participate in negotiations for writing up contract pertaining to such leases and transfer of properties.
          Perform any other duties assigned by one’s reporting officer 





    4.TELEPHONE OPERATOR II – 1 POST




a)         Required Qualifications




Holder of certificate of Secondary Education with credit passes in English, Kiswahili and Geography or form six who has principal pass in English and has attained certificate in telephone maintainance  or equivalent qualification from VETA or any other recognized Institution.  



 b)        Duties and Responsibilities.


      Make repair of Telephone Receivers both for Extensions and Direct lines for the entire University.

      Make repair of the Telephone cables  across the University.

      Rectify telephone faulties  on daily basis that are reported  by staff.

      Connect new extensions and direct lines to telephone users.

      Fix telephone receivers and cables at various places.

      Assists the Telephone Supervisor in preparing the University Telephone Directory.

      Arranges telephone repairs/ servicing

      Performs any other duties as may be assigned to from time to time by one's reporting officer.





5. DRIVER II - 2   POSTS




a)         Required Qualification




Holder of Form IV Certificate with passes in Kiswahili and English plus a clean valid Driving License at appropriate class and working experience of at least three (3) yearsin a similar position and must also possess Trade Test Grade II in Motor Vehicle Mechanics and Driving Certificate Grade II from a recognized Institution such as NIT or VETA.



b)          Duties and Responsibilitie


      Drives pool University vehicles safely.

      Maintains logbooks.

      Ensuresafety of passenger (s) during driving

      Ensures safe-keeping of the vehicle and its tools 

      Maintains disciplined behaviour, smartness and proper conduct in  rendering services.

      Maintains cleanliness of the vehicle and tools

      Reports promptly any defects or problems detected in the vehicle.

      Undertakes minor repairs when necessary.

      Performs messengerial duties such as dispatching documents/letters and collecting mail.

      Checks validity of insurance, TLB, Plying fees etc and reports the same to the Transport Officer for necessary action.

      Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by one's reporting officer.
