JOB TITLE:COST ACCOUNTANT
Reporting to: Management Accountant
Position status: Full-time
Location: Tanga
Key responsibilities:
Responsible for cost analysis, preparation of variance reports, budget preparation, housekeeping of master files and preparation of monthly reports.
Principle Accountabilities:
1. Investigation of the variances
a) Compare actual figures against budget
b) Analyze all variances and inform the management
2. Provide internal controls and reconciliations necessary to maintain data integrity and consistency
a) Ensure internal controls are adhered to
3. Analyze direct and indirect costs
a) Determine proper recording of costs elements
b) Develop and improve methods for calculating and controlling cost
c) Compile cost data for use in developing budget proposals
4. Preparation of the variance report for management
a) Present all variance explanations with supporting graphs
b) Ensure that all information required is included in the report
c) Ensure that the report been prepared on time and to the correct level of quality
d) Analyze accounts, records, reports and other accounting documents for accuracy and integrity
5. Maintain SAP master files
a) Maintain and update vendor master files
b) Create new vendor accounts
c) Update existing vendor accounts when necessary
d) Block vendor accounts when required
e) Maintain vendor files
f) Update price list files when prices changes
6. Performing month-end closing
a) Ensure all costs are booked to their respective month.
b) Running maintenance order to ensure no outstanding orders are pending before closing the month.
c) Preparing a stock reconciliation and explanations for variances if any
d) Closing the production orders in SAP
e) Perform the month-end process.
7. Preparation of monthly reports
a) Preparation of monthly Financial Reporting Package (FRP).
b) Strategic Roadmap
8. Assisting during Finplan and budget process
a) Assist with budget and Finplan preparation and ensuring that the budget on SAP is accurate to what has been agreed by the Management together with the presentation
9. Filling statistical information
a) Filling quarterly and yearly statistics for the National Bureau of Statistics.
10. Ultimate responsible for safe working practices especially area of responsibility
11. Any other duties as may be assigned
Key requirements - Education and Experience:
a) Advanced Diploma or Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting)
b) Certified Public Accountant (Added advantage)
c) 03-05 years of proven experience in related field in a reputable organization
Knowledge and Skills:
a) Extensive knowledge in computerized accounting particular excel spreadsheet and power point.
b) Excellent knowledge of internal control requirements
c) Able to respond to heavy demands and work pressure
d) SAP knowledge(added advantage)
e) Strong technical creative skills
f) Proactive attitude
g) Totally honest and trustworthy
h) Meticulous attention to detail
