The East African Community is a regional
intergovernmental organization comprising the Republic of Burundi, the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, the United Republic of Tanzania, and the Republic of Uganda with its headquarters in Arusha, Tanzania.

The EAC mission is to widen and deepen economic, political, social and
cultural integration to improve the quality of life of the people of
East Africa through increased competitiveness, value added production,
trade and investments. Effective discharge of functions towards
achievement of the EAC mission requires policy research to inform the
Community’s decision-making processes.
The overall objective of the EAC Policy Research Unit is to enhance
implementation of EAC’s programmes and projects by Partner States. The
specific objectives are to:- strengthen research and policy analysis
capacities of the EAC Secretariat; and to enhance development and
coordination of evidence-based regional policy research in the EAC.
