PROJECT OFFICER: MORE AND
BETTER MIDWIFERY FOR RURAL TANZANIA-MBM-RT

JOB OBJECTIVES:
The Project
Officer will undertake all day-to-day implementation of activities as
elaborated in weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual plans under close
supervision of the Project Manager. S/he will provide required quality technical
skills and guidance to project team, partners and stakeholders in
implementation of the More and Better Midwifery for Rural Tanzania project in
Lake and Western Zone.
DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES
§
Work closely with your supervisor in implementing activities on deployment system
strengthening (to expedite posting, make applications more equitable, address appropriate distribution of HRH)
§
Work closely with your supervisor in supporting the RHMTS and CHMTs on
Compliance/Adherence to rules and regulations for deployment
§
Regularly support the Project Manager to
facilitate the CHMTs and RHMTs on
equitable distribution and retention of newly hired nurse-midwives
§
Support the applicants of the nursing courses to
be able to use the enrolment and admission system to enable more eligible
students from rural areas to undertake nurse-midwifery courses.
§
Sensitize the Community and secondary school
students’ around LZ and WZ on
understanding and uptake of of midwifery profession
§
Work closely with your supervisor to Support the
MOH/CHMTs/RHMTS/LGAs to use the bonding system to enable availability of
nurse-midwives in hard to reach areas
§
Provide day-to-day technical support to partners
and field officers on issues of HRH.
§ Work closely with your supervisor in
ensuring adequate support is provided to the Council Health Management
Teams/RHMTs to ensure comprehensive delivery of project activities.
§
Actively participate in District council health
planning, supervisory, training and monitoring activities to ensure project
activities are aligned to and harmonized within district systems.
§
Provide on-site mentoring, quality assurance and
refresher training to nurses and schools available in the regions
§
Participates in development of strategic and
regular work plans for the project
§
Prepare and submit reports on all project
activities implemented.
§
Carry out other activities as may be assigned to
him/her by the Project Manager.
QUALIFICATION AND
EXPRIENCE
§ Basic degree in Education Sciences, Natural Sciences(Biology, Chemistry,
Physics,) or nursing is strictly preferred
§ Postgraduate degree in the above field will be an added advantage.
§ At least Two years’ experience in public health interventions or
similar interventions
§ Demonstrated ability in institutional capacity
building, including in pre-service education and in-service training,
especially in reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health
§ Articulate speaker and communicator (oral and
written) in English and Kiswahili
§ Understanding of DFATD’s regulations and compliance,
reporting requirements and health strategic framework
§ Ability to work independently, under pressure and with minimum
supervision
§ Ability to work with people from all backgrounds
§ Proven Integrity and good
personality
