Job Description:

The Volunteer Engagement Officer’s role is to provide overall leadership and management to the volunteer program. The primary responsibilities of this role includes strategy and implementation development, including developing procedures, processes and systems for effective engagement and representation of the WV core values, mission and vision. This position will be the focal point of contact and spokesperson for WVC, mobilizing and managing relationships/partnerships through strategic engagement with corporations, churches, institutions, foundations and other agencies.
This position is responsible for the growth and diversification of revenue streams through deepening engagement with the Canadian public and expanding the WV brand. This role contributes to the annual resources-in-kind revenue of 90M-100M which supports field programs in over 30 countries globally. This position reports to the team leader.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop engagement strategy and implementation plan for engagement with new and existing supporters
  • Execute annual operating plan in accordance with engagement strategy
  • Develop training material
  • Develop engagement procedure/process and selection criteria
  • Conduct orientation/training with volunteers
  • Recruit and mobilize qualified volunteers and coordinate schedules
  • Supervise the work of volunteers
  • Ensure volunteers perform work in a safe work environment and in a safe manner
  • Monitor and evaluate performance
  • Maintain effective communication with all stakeholders
  • Research, prospect, cultivate and build new relationships
  • Develop a loyalty retention program (awards/incentives)
  • Design a transformational engagement model
  • Develop and maintain a network of supporters (corporations, churches, youth groups, schools, universities, foundations, etc.)
  • Market/promote the volunteer program (through speaking events, social media, website, marketing brochures and other innovative channels)
  • Systems, Processes, Reporting and Compliance Management
  • Conduct field visits as needed
Job Requirements:
  • University degree, with focus on partnership development/engagement
  • Knowledge and understanding of volunteer engagement sector
  • Knowledge and understanding of global development issues and non-profit sector
  • Stakeholder relationships management
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Cross-cultural experience and sensitivity
  • Ability to speak and write English fluently
  • Strong computer skills and Excel, Outlook, Word
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team player
  • Able to travel internationally (undertake field trips and attending meetings/conference/training) as needed
  • 3-5 years in partnership management
  • Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle
