LEGAL OFFICER’S POSITION  
ABD Attorneys is looking for a Legal Officer

to join their growing team. Our ideal candidate will be someone who is looking for a flexible arrangement, and who brings knowledge, expertise, and energy to the firm, but who also has existing clients and assignments to tend to.  

OVERALL OBJECTIVE Under the instruction of the Advocate (Managing Partner), the Legal Officer shall be responsible for providing legal advice and drafting legal instruments for the firm’s clients.  The Legal Officer shall also:  a. Represent the firm's clients in Courts of Law and Tribunals; b. Ensure the firm's interests and ethics are effectively safeguarded; c. Draft pleadings and ensure that all legal requirements have been observed before filing the same; d. Maintain an accurate and updated database of key statistics pertaining to all matters involving the firm; e. Initiate periodic reports on performance of the firm’s functioning. 

The Legal Officer shall give priority to the firm's assignments but will be allowed to engage in his/her own private assignments, provided that they shall not conflict with the firm's interests. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS i. Undergraduate Law degree; ii. Being enrolled as an Advocate would be an added advantage. 

GENERAL COMPETENCIES i. An understanding of regulations, legislation, policies, procedures and rules on a range of land aspects; ii. Knowledge of investigation and evidence in land matters; iii. Knowledge of court processes and procedures (specifically on land matters); 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES a. Computer literacy; b. Research and legal drafting; c. Analysis and problem solving skills; d. Able to take decisions after assessing pros, cons, risks, and threats; e. Able to deal effectively with people in difficult situations;
f. Effective verbal and listening communications skills; g. Management skills;  h. Leadership skills;  i. Able to communicate clearly and effectively in writing, drafting reports that need minimal editing; j. Strong presentation skills; k. Able to manage their time well and to juggle multiple priorities.
