Role overview


The VSO Secure Livelihoods program would like to recruit a business analyst to develop business plan for agro-processing training centre that will provide guidance on the operational system and enhancing value addition to local agriculturial produce in the Island of Zanzibar, Tanzania. 

The analyst will work closely with the programme team and his/her roles will include:
- Evaluate the (external) environment within which the agro-processing center will function
- Evaluate the current situation of the business in question.
- Assess the supply-demand situation for the business in question
- Determine the requirements for the successful initiation and management of the business 
- Identify the extent of and areas in which capacity building and human resource development at local levels will be required.
- Determine possible barriers to the proposed business 
- Provide a financial analysis.
- Provide recommendations 
- Develop business plan for the business in question

Skills, qualifications and experience


Essential 

- A bachelor's degree level and/or above education
- 3 years’ + experience as a Business Analyst 
- A good understanding of issues relating to starting an enterprise and its current development trend
- Experience of researching and seeking information to complete requirements documents

Desirable

- Experience of working effectively in different cultures
- Knowledge of development issues and the INGO sector

Communication Specialist

The volunteer shall have excellent communication skills with good knowledge on the organisational and systems management skills.


Allowance and accommodation


All volunteers have an allowance paid in local currency. The allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home.


VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.

Skills, qualifications and experience


Degree in communications, public relations, journalism or a similar discipline. Experience of three or more years in teaching methodology from vocational training facility or related institution is highly recommended for this position. Have at least two years experience in the practical vocational training. Experience in management information systems

Food Production Adviser

Ability to work in multi partners’ project 

Africa context experience preferable. 
Good facilitation skills especially in vocational education or related aspect

Preference is given to a person with vocational education/training background or similar institution in hotels

Welding and Fabrication Adviser

The Welding and Fabrication Adviser will work with Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) teachers to provide advice, coaching and where possible support other workshops in welding and fabrication related operations.


Skills, qualifications and experience


Professional qualifications and experience:

Essential
v Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Welding and fabrication), Diploma in Vocational training or QTS certification 
v Have at least three years in welding maintenance department of a factory or an establishment such as a hospital, public utility company or office building.
v Have at least two years experience in practical vocational training
Desirable:
v Good organizational and interpersonal skills
v Experience of working in a developing country.
v Experience of working in Low resource settings

Preference is given to those who have background experience in industrial operations or vocational training experience. Education background on international qualifications like City and Guilds or any other will be added advantage
