 The dlab is innovative centre of data driven and an open collaborative working space connecting the data  revolution to Tanzania priorities global development communities  and diverse programs and investment it serve as an anchor for the DCLI program enabling data analysis and use to become more prominent in decision making in Tanzania
The DALAB is looking for the dynamic innovative and seasonable data scientist who can transcend the boundaries that exist between statistic and stories we are looking for an advisor who can direct activities and raise awareness nationally regionally and globally on how data related stories surface emerging impacts and drive engagement with other stakeholders who are making use of data for local impact

 The senior advisor data science you will be responsible for the strategic steering and engaged of the data science team within the lab and will also acts as primary sources for identifying and establishing partnership and alliances with other partners working on data on data projects and products in Tanzania. The ideal candidates will demonstrate the following key attribute

KEY ACTIVITIES

  • Ensure effective implementations of the lab data science work plan in line with the project objectives while adhering to strictly delivery timelines guide and supervise staff on the design implementations and evaluations of projects discuss and take on suggestion from project stakeholders on a regular basis in coordinating with the management team
  • Identify key areas of improvements and ensure that the team is adequately equipped to deliver the project outputs and if  need be rapidly developing capacity within- or sources from the  outside to ensure timely delivery
  • Mentor your professionals and produce state of the art data productions that may include visualizations analytical reports briefing papers project reports ect


 ESSENTIAL

  • At least 5 years of experience in the data science fields with established credentials and proof of design and management of complex projects coordination of multiple stakeholders with diverse priorities and interest
  • Plan, develop, and apply leading-edge  analytical and quantitative tools and modeling techniques help internal terms as well as external partners gain insight and improve decision making
  • Review internal and external analytical techniques identify what data is available and relevant source necessary the necessary data. Processing, cleaning and verifying the integrity of data usage
  • Experience of using machine learning logarithms and strong algorithms thinking. Software development experience with JAVA, JASON, PYTTHON SCALA. Creation development of models and logarithms to analyze unstructured data


 EDUCATIONS
Master degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics or similar quantitative discipline
