Role overview

The volunteer will work collaboratively with Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) in Mtwara, Lindi, Morogoro, Dar es Salaam and Pwani regions by providing advice, coaching, training to youth on food production and where possible support workshops in food production. He/she will provide advise to VETA management and Master Craftspeople on the best way to improve skill development in food production.

Essential
University degree/Advanced diploma in Food production or a Diploma in Vocational training or QTS certification
Experience of three or more years in teaching in a vocational training facility or related institution.

Role overview

You will work collaboratively with Vocational Education and Training Authority (in Mtwara, Lindi, Morogoro, Dar es Salaam and Pwani) teachers within and selected master craftspeople from 9 district and municipal councils from the 5 regions by providing technical advice, coaching and training on motor vehicle and motor cycle mechanics to the identified marginalized youth and where possible support other workshops in mechanical engineering. The volunteer will also participate in developing/reviewing curriculum, developing adapted vocational training manuals for the marginalized youth and courses for master craftspeople

Skills, qualifications and experience

The ideal candidate will have a
University degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Vocational training or QTS certification with particular experience in Motor vehicle mechanics
Experience of three or more years in teaching methodology from vocational training facility or related institution is highly recommended for this position
Have at least two years experience in the practical vocational training

Role overview

VSO – Tanzania (Tz) has more than 50 years of operations delivering livelihoods projects supporting vulnerable people via promoting of small to medium business enterprise; supporting vocational training and skills development in local trades; and strengthening structures and networks of community-based organisations that are involved in economic development.
The VSO Secure Livelihoods program would like to recruit dynamic and qualified personnel to fill a vacancy position of Entrepreneurship and Market linkage adviser. The adviser will work in a project named Commercial agriculture for Smallholder Farmers (CASH) in Zanzibar, Tanzania that aims to contribute to strengthening value chain linking smallholder farmers to markets, in view of increased productivity, competitiveness and income in the horticulture sector in Zanzibar.
The adviser will work closely with the project team and the main goal of the role is to provide technical assistance to local partner organizations in strengthening farmers’ technical capacity on profitable market accessibility. More specifically, the adviser will:
• Provide training in horticultural entrepreneurship with a focus on value addition and certification to lead producers (ToT) and producer groups.
• Monitor and provide technical support to farmer groups to strengthen their cohesion and the keeping of farm records
• Support the international volunteer on the development of marketing strategies at the organizational and farmer groups level
• Provide technical assistance to partner organizations in the implementation of marketing strategies of horticultural production sector and promotion farmers umbrella organizations
• Support in the organization of meeting with value chain actors to create awareness on the roles played by each actor.
• Provide advice to farmer groups on the establishment, accessibility and use of financial services

Skills, qualifications and experience

Essential
- Qualified graduate in marketing/economics/business administration/ Agri-Business or related subjects with at least 1 years of experience in agricultural development ideally supporting producer groups/ associations
- Knowledge of the business practices and agricultural economics
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public and private officials and the general public in order to promote agricultural commodities.

Desirable
- Experience in value chain development methodologies
- Encourages and facilitates cooperation, pride, trust, and group identity. Fosters commitment and team spirit.
- Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information.

Role overview

The VSO Tanzania secure livelihoods program is now launching a project named Raise Income for School Education (RISE) in the Muleba District area of the Kagera region in the north-eastern part of Tanzania country. The project aims to improve the quality of education for children and improving the income of their parents.
Provide capacity building to RISE project team, partner organizations (KAVIPE, Muleba District Council, School committees and management, Parent Association and Ibuga SACCOs) on fundraising or community mobilization. The capacity building will be done through coaching, mentoring, advice and training.

Provide capacity building to RISE project team, partner organizations (KAVIPE, Conduct Research in order to establish/assess the key market actors and to develop a better understanding of the key market challenges in the maize, beans, dairy and any other key crops. This will be based on using participatory teaching methodologies.The volunteer will be working with heads of the schools,school inspectors,ward education coordinator and 2 other professional volunteers. In the team you will advice on the development of training courses. After assisting in the implementation you'll take up the role of mentor and coach for the participants.

You have at least a bachelor degree in education. You have at least 5 years of experience as teacher in a primary school. A first experience in coaching other teachers is essential.
