Established
in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of
migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and
non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly
migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice
to governments and migrants.

Context:
Under
the general supervision of the Chief of Mission, under the direct supervision
of the Operations Officer, and in coordination with Senior Operations
Assistant, the incumbent is responsible for performing resettlement operations
duties in compliance with IOM established procedures to ensure orderly and
timely movements of refugees and migrants the incumbent will carry out the
following duties and responsibilities:
Core Functions / Responsibilities:
1. Transmit
IOM Travel documents from IOM office to the airport for the migrants departing,
or transiting Julius Nyerere International Airport, (JNIA).
2. Arrange
for USRAP promissory notes and Canadian warrants to be signed prior to
departure from (JNIA).
3. Liaise
with airlines regarding pre-check-in procedures for IOM groups.
4. Coordinate
migrants’ transportations between the terminals, hotels and (JNIA).
5. Check
airline tickets and verify travel documents and migrants’ identities prior to
check-in.
6. Arrange
check-in of the migrants departing (JNIA) assisting with bags, providing ID
verification, leading departing migrants through customs and immigration.
7. Tag
refugee baggage.
8. Ensure
that relevant airport services are accessed for cases with special needs;
including medical and unaccompanied minors.
9. Liaise
with airlines, immigration, airport authorities on procedures for IOM
passengers.
10. Arrange
for meals and accommodation as necessary for all IOM passengers in case of
delay with departure.
11. Inform
Operations Assistants of any flight changes, cancellations.
12. Confirm
departures to Operations Assistants, and provide bag count for transmitting the
data to the receiving IOM mission.
13. Assist
with arrival formalities to returning migrants at (JNIA) and arrange for ground
transportation.
14. Report
on arriving migrants to Operations Assistants, and IOM sending missions.
15. Reports
on the costs incurred by arriving migrants to Operations Assistants and sending
IOM missions for proper settlement.
16. Perform
any other duties assigned that may be assigned from time to time
Required
Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or business administration or any other related field, accompanied with 2 years working experience or;
- High school diploma and 4 years of working experience.
- IATA Standard diploma or airline relater field.
- Three years of resettlement or airline experience, such as experience working with actors involved in movements: RSC, UNHCR, airport authorities.
- Computer Literacy & proficiency in Ms Windows XP and 2007, Ms Office 2007, 2010, Database and Ms Access.
- Overall knowledge of USRAP, Australian, Canadian, and European IOM resettlement procedures, a critical added advantage.
- Ability to read, understand and apply written instructions and guidelines; interpret instructions and resolve work related problems; detect input/output errors; perform basic arithmetical calculations.
- Accuracy in handling and reporting data.
Experience

Languages
Fluency in English and Kiswahili is
required.
