Zambia Cargo & Logistics Limited (ZCL) is a multi-million-dollar international logistics Company operating a regional and global business. The Company recently changed its name to reflect the organization's new mandate and new vision as per recently approved Strategic Plan for the next five years' 2016 to 2021.

The Company was established in April 2001. ZCL is a wholly owned state enterprise of the Government of the Republic of Zambia, supervised by the Ministry of Transport and Communications based in Lusaka. The Company's current corporate head office and its main operations centre, Mukuba Depot, is located in Kurasini area, in Oar es Salaam, Tanzania next to the dockyard. ZCL recently incorporated a company in Zambia and current office is based in Ndola.
Hitherto, the Company has been handling mainly mineral cargo, especially copper, but over the years the Company has diversified its revenue base to include agricultural related cargo and other general cargo. ICT Officer

Assist the Company make the best and effective use of its ICT investment and technologies by providing assistance to other departments in all ICT matters in respect of implementation, maintenance, training and support. It provides the appropriate level of support in all IT related matters.
Understand how the different applications of the Company operate in relation with the hardware, software, network, servers, printers, Systems, phone and other peripheral devices. Responsible to make sure that all ICT systems and devices are maintained and perform to the desired standards and ICT services are delivered as per ICT approved policies and any associated Service Level Agreement (SLA).

Responsibilities
• Managing, Supervising, Advising, Monitoring and control ICT both hardware and software
• Advising management on all ICT issues
• Researching on existing and new technologies and advising management the way forward if at all the technologies have a positive return to ZCL
• Preparing ICD budget
• Assist on the development of ICT policies and disaster recovery
• Communications and supervising suppliers of ICT resources
• Supervising ICT storage and archiving process
• Establishes network by evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, good put, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
• Maintain, upgrades, installs and troubleshoots networks, networking hardware devices and software
• Maintains inventory of equipment and parts as well as documentation of vendor activities
• Assist develop and document system standards for computer and network devices
• Recommend and schedule repairs to the LANIWAN
• Prepare ICT inventory management scheme with an issuing policy so that there is a complete control on the movement of such items
• Implement and maintain server hardware and software, troubleshoot server problems, and ensure server security, availability & performance standards.

• Assigning users right and privilege and provide credential

• Evaluates systems potential by testing compatibility of new programmes with existing programmes Computer application monitoring and tuning
• Achieves computer system objectives by gathering pertinent data, identifying and evaluating options and recommending an appropriate course of action Improve existing programmes by reviewing objectives and specifications through evaluating proposed changes and recommending changes and making modifications where necessary.

• Maintain the ZCL ICT system
• To maintain an inventory of computer hardware and software (including licenses)
• Perform preventive maintenance duties on items of ICT hardware, including the cleaning of equipment.
• Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults;
• Assisting in database design
• Updating and amending existing container databases
• Setting up and testing new database and data handling

Minimum Qualifications and Work Experience
• First degree I diploma in any relevant ICT field from a recognised learning institution
• At least three years' experience in computer systems maintenance and troubleshooting in recognized institutions.
• CCENT/CCNA qualifications are essential but not a must for suitably qualified candidates
• Proven experience as network technician or relevant position senior position
• Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills
• Good knowledge of LANIWAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies
• Good command of English and Kiswahili both in writing and speaking
• Sound leadership and managerial skills
• Show excellent level of competence and integrity in work.
