VOCATIONAL TEACHERS
Job title: Vocational Teacher Electrical sector 1 Post
Vocational Teacher Automotive sector 1 Post
Vocational Teacher Hospitality Sector 1 Post
Job Relationship:
Reports to: The’ Coordinator of Dual Apprenticeship Project
Job Purpose:
To effectively and efficiently impact knowledge, skills and attitudes to vocational instructor trainees for in campus and off campus through classroom sessions and block teaching
Practice in order to produce quality and competent vocational instructors/teachers to meet the requirement of VET curricula
Should be practical oriented who can work independently in the field.
Qualification required
Form Four (IV) or six (VI) with pass or equivalent
Must have Trade Test Grade One Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Vocational Education or equivalent from recognized College/University
At least 5 (five) years work experience in relevant position
Should be Computer literate
Conversant in English
Responsibilities
To prepare training plans and scheme of works by interpreting curriculum and teaching guidelines in view to achieve set objectives.
To guide trainees in preparing teaching tools and requirements needed to facilitate practical training of vocational trainees in view to widen understanding.
To deliver instructions/teaching through use of various methods of teaching and learning in view to impart knowledge and ‘skills to vocational instructors trainees.
To supervise, assess and evaluate vocational instructor trainees carry out teaching practice through physical visits in order to measure the performance of vocational instructor trainees and suggest for remedies (if needed).
To effectively and efficiently carry out assessment and evaluation of training/teaching through tests and examinations with the aim of measuring their understanding.
To initiate improvement of training curriculum in relation to trends in the market through monthly/quarterly report, meetings and forums in view to provide training that will respond to VET curricular requirement..
To provide counselling and guidance to trainees through discussion or consultation in view to ensure good conduct, discipline and solutions
To problems facing trainees.
To keep assessment records for the subject he/she is teaching for onward submission to head of Education and training.
To effectively and efficiently participate in course evaluation by preparing evaluation tool and involving instructor trainees in evaluation in a view to check relevance of its curricula.
