TANZANIA NATIONAL ROADS AGENCY (TAN ROADS) is a Semi - Autonomous Agency under the Ministry of Works established on July l, 2000 and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Tanzania Mainland's trunk and regional roads network. Its primary functions include the management of maintenance and development works, operations of the network and axle load control, the implementation of road safety and environmental measures, provision of advice on the strategic framework, policies and plans for the road sector.
The Regional Manager's Office TANROADS - MTWARA, on behalf of the Chief Executive, TANROADS, intends to recruit qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill vacant posts on specific duty on short - term contract within the
Region for Portable Weighbridge operations.

NB: GENERAL CONDITIONS
I. All applicants must be citizens of Tanzania and not above 40 years old
II. Applicants must attach an up - to date Curriculum Vitae (CV) having reliable contact, i.e. postal address e - mail and telephone numbers.

V. Applicants who were already working at any weighbridge station with TANROADS will not be considered.

VIII. Certificates from foreign Universities should be certified by the Tanzania commission for Universities(TCU)

Weighbridge Cashier (1 POST)

A. Qualifications for Weighbridge Cashier;

Age: Not below 25 and not above 35 years of age
Educational minimum qualification: Diploma in account;
Computer Literate (at least Certificate in Computer Applications);
Must be fluent in Kiswahili and English languages;

B. Duties and Responsibility;
Collecting and Banking all weighbridge charges (fees) according to weighbridge report form;
Seeking current USD exchange rates issued by Bank of Tanzania for case of imposing charges that are equivalent to Tanzania shillings and keep exchange rate records;
Timely filling all necessary records and keep register area neat:
Report all matters to the Shift in charge;
Performing other duties as may be assigned from time to time by Shift in Charge and I or Regional Manager.

Weighbridge Operator (4 POSTS)

A. Qualifications for Weighbridge Operator;
Age: Not below 25 and not above 35 years of age
Educational minimum qualification: Holder of Full Technician Certificate (FTC)/Diploma in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering;
Computer Literate (at least Certificate in Computer Applications);
Must be fluent in Kiswahili and English languages;

Duties and Responsibility;
Enforcement of Road Traffic axle Load Control by the use of Weighbridge scale devices;
Weigh Motor Vehicles of Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) ~ 3,500kg plying on our Public Roads;
Carrying out activities as described in the Roads Traffic (Maximum Weigh of Vehicles) Regulations, 2001.
The activities include the following:
Measure physical dimensions of motor Vehicle or any load being carried on the motor vehicle, and in case of non-compliance with vehicle dimension limits, the transporter should be caused to seek for a special permit;
Record all necessary particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed.
For trucks carrying abnormal load with special permit, ascertain compliance to the permit. Any discrepancy should be reported to the Weighbridge In- charge for appropriate action ( Observe good customer care, dignity and integrity
Report all matters to the Shift in-charge
Any other duties as may be assigned by Regional Manager.
Shift In-Charge (2 POSTS}

A. Key Qualifications for the shift in- charge
Age: Not below 25 and not above 40 years of age
Educational minimum qualification: Holder of 1st Degree in any Engineering professional.
Computer Literate (at least Certificate in Computer Applications).
Must be fluent in Kiswahili and English languages;
Three (3) years' experience in Engineering Works

Duties and Responsibilities of Shift In - Charge
Enforcement of Road Traffic axle Load Control by the use of Weighbridge scale devices.
Overall supervision of shift activities
Carrying out activities as described in the Roads Traffic (maximum weight of vefi1clesf Regulations
2001, which include the following:-
Measuring physical dimensions of motor Vehicle or any load being carried on the motor vehicle, and in case of non - compliance with vehicle dimension limits, the transporter should be caused to seek for a special permit;
Recording all necessary particulars regarding the motor vehicle being weighed
For trucks carrying abnormal load with special permit, ascertaining compliance to the permit.
Detaining vehicles contravening axle load control and road safety matters
Preparing daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reports
Observe good customer care, dignity and integrity
Report all matters to the Regional Manager
Any other duties as may be assigned by Regional Manager.
