Restless Development is the national banner carrier for youth-led
development. We’ve been in Tanzania since 1993, growing, changing and
responding to the most urgent issues facing young Tanzanians. Our work
in Tanzania has been cited best practice for our unrivalled
methodologies by the World Bank and UNICEF and we are winners of the
2014 Resolve Award from the Global Leaders Council for Health. Directly
reaching over 110,000 young people across 14 regions each year, it is
our young volunteers and youth-led networks that lead and deliver
transformative change.
Today, we address some of the biggest issues on the table including:
promoting access to sexual health and family planning services and
awareness of sexual reproductive health and rights, the role of young
people in the constitution and election process, unemployment, and
development beyond 2015. Over the last 12 months our work has
contributed on the ground to:
- 53,785 young people accessing sexual reproductive health programmes and services
- 11,701 young people accessing civic education and advocacy training, with 6,966 of them engaged in the constitutional review process
- 5,100 young people trained on how to set up their own business and as a result 2,431 micro-enterprises have been established.
We are seeking an outstanding and values-orientated individual to lead
our team in Tanzania to even greater heights. Working closely alongside
the Country Director to oversee all 5 organisational directorates
(Strategy & Direction, Operations & HR, Finance &
Administration, Fundraising and Partnerships, and Programme Quality), as
well as to contribute to the development of strategic partnerships,
this role will suit a talented individual who is ready to take a step up
into a senior leadership role within a dynamic and ambitious
organisation.
Our next Head of Restless Development (Tanzania) will build on a
successful legacy from our outgoing Head to ensure the highest standards
in performance and accountability are achieved across the agency in
Tanzania. Based from our Dar Office (with regular travel to Dar and
other operational locations), you will ensure our team of 40+ staff
spread across four locations is delivering to the highest operational
standards as are required by our strategy, business plan, and annual
operational plans and budgets. You will join at an exciting time in
which we will be evaluating the success of our current strategy, and
working closely with the Country Director, Management and Board to
develop our next strategy and business plan beyond 2015.
Working under the leadership of the Country Director, you will drive
internal performance through the management team and our business units
(strategy and direction, finance and operations, people and performance,
programme quality, and fundraising) to meet or exceed the targets
set against our strategy and business plan.
The successful candidate will be highly systems and process oriented,
ensuring that up to date information is available, analysed and acted
upon by the management team to address agency level risks and challenges
to performance of the business units. The individual must
demonstrate the leadership behaviours we expect to see in our Heads, and
able to instil a culture of performance and values based leadership
across the whole team. The individual must be proactive and solution
oriented, able to deputise for the Country Director, and could be
a potential Director for Restless Development in the future.
