The
UNESCO National Commission of the United Republic of Tanzania has been
newly established as an autonomous organization through the UNESCO'
National Commission Act No. 7 of 2008. The Commission acts as the
principle link between UNESCO' and the government in order to engage
departments working in all areas of UNESCO' competence that is,
Education, Natural Science, Social and Human Science, Culture and,
Communication and Information. '
The Commission invites qualified Tanzanians to fill vacant posts as follows:
1.Programme Officer II (x 5)
Progamme Officer- Education (1), Programme Officer- Natural Sciences (1)
, Programme Officer -Human and Social Sciences (1) Programme Officer
-Culture (1) and Programme Office- Communication and Information (1)
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent qualifications relevant to UNESCO"s fields of competence (Education,
Natural Science, Social and Human Science, Culture, and Communication and Information).
Must be computer literate
At least 3 years working experience in a similar role
Duties and responsibilities of Programme Officers
Supervision and preparation of project proposals for submission to
UNESCO' under Participation, Regular, Funds in Trust and Co - Action
programmes,
To coordinate implementation and execution of UNESCO' major programmes,
To coordinate UNESCO' specialized programmes in UNESCO"s field of
competence e.g. Man and Biosphere· programme (MAB), Intergovernmental
Hydrological Programme (IHP), Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage,
etc.
To coordinate, in relevant Sector’s Experts’ Committee meetings,
To participate in the preparations of the UNESCO Draft Programmes and Budget,
To participate in the Preparation of country paper to the UNESCO' General Conference,
To prepare contracts/agreements for disbursement and management of project funds,
To supervise implementation, monitoring and evaluation of projects,
Secretary of Experts Committee for relevant sector Programmes
Performs any other duties as may be assigned by authorities.
