From The Guardian, 13th Jan 2016The mission of Embassy of Sweden in Tanzania is to enhance and further develop the partnership relation between Tanzania and Sweden. The work includes development cooperation, political dialoque and reporting, promotion of Sweden. and Swedish trade, migration and consular matters administration.
The close relationship between Sweden and Tanzania goes back to independence and the trade relationship has over the years become increasingly important. Although there is a lot of potential, the trade relations is not yet seeing the strong growth that would be motivated by the growing Tanzanian economy. The Embassy wishes to improve this and is therefore recruiting Programme Officer for trade promotion and political affairs. .
Programme Officer Trade Promotion and' Political Affairs
The Programme Officer for trade promotion and political affairs will work closely with the Embassy's First Secretary for political and commercial affairs to increase knowledge about business opportunities in Tanzania for Swedish companies.
The ambition is that the Embassy's activities will result in an increased demand for Swedish products and services. The duties will also include assisting with information gathering on both commercial and political issues.
Duties and responsibilities:
Arranging trade delegations in cooperation with the Swedish Trade and Invest Council (Business Sweden)
Together with colleagues develop new ways of promoting Swedish/Tanzanian trade .
Be focal point for Swedish companies regarding business with Tanzanian counterparts, to answer inquiries and provide advice.
Keep Embassy contact lists with Swedish companies up to date. . Promote Sweden and the Embassy's activities through different communication platforms, including the Embassy website, social media and preparing press releases .
Contribute to political reporting .
Assist with other tasks as and when required.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Master's degree in Business Administration, Economics or Political Science or related fields of expertise.
At least five (5) years of relevant working experience .
Excellent working knowledge of English and Kiswahili including reading and writing professional reports
Team' player with strong ability to cooperate, listen and communicate with colleagues and external partners.
Good judgment and self-knowledge. ,
Ability to represent and pursue Swedish values, policies and positions. f. .
Results-focused with ability to take initiatives, work independently, make own assessments, follow-up and finalise tasks .
Proven analytical capacity .
