Electrician (Somanga Gas Plant) POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Company has the largest electricity generation, transmission and distribution network in Tanzania. ELECTRICIAN (TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT) – 1 POST
REPORT TO: MAINTENANCE ENGINEER
POSITION OBJECTIVE
Assist to operate and maintain electrical control systems and equipment.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
He/ She will be responsible for
• Perform minor maintenance, adjustments and repairs on electrical equipment including pumps.
• Operate, control and monitor electric generating units and auxiliary equipment
• Carry out visual inspection of equipment and instruments and to report any faults and defects.
• Carry out load switching at power house and switchyard
• Check regularly the power systems according to the instructions by taking hourly readings of instruments, gauges etc.
• Prepare and submit status reports on weekly and monthly basis.
• Restore system in the shortest possible time during the system/plant fault
Outages
• Test and perform minor repairs on circuit breakers.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Form IV Secondary Certificate
• Electrical installation certificate (VETA) grade I,ll or III
REMUNERATION
An attractive compensation package based on performance and commensurate with the responsibility wilt apply to the successful candidates.
NB: Employment terms for the post of Electrician is three months contract renewable upon successful performance.
