Summary: Mkono wa Tumaini
(MTU) is an NGO whose objective is to offer charitable and humanitarian
services in terms of food, clothes, legal assistance, entrepreneurial skills,
psychosocial counselling and medical care for diseases; malaria, Tuberculosis,
HIV / AIDS and others; and to provide health education.
The position of Communications & Fundraising Officer is to
provide assistance to the board of MTU in identifying donor resources, raising
funds and writing proposals for long-term organizational sustainability.
Duties/Assignments:
The Communications &
Fundraising Officer will:
§
Creating, planning, implementation, management
and oversight of all aspects related to fundraising for the organization.
§
Identifying donor opportunities, develop donor
database, respond to donor tenders and call for proposals, develop grant
proposals, write appeals, represent the organization at donor meetings and
undertake follow-up of potential funding opportunities.
§
Explore and develop strategies for long-term
sustainability of the organization and its interventions
§
Develop business plans in consultation with
other staff for possible generation of long-term incomes for the organization.
§
Undertake online research and build contacts
with potential individual donors and raise funds for the activities of the
organization.
§
Improve and develop communications material for
the organization such as brochure, website, annual report, DVD, poster etc.
§
Liaison with private agencies, the government
and other organizations to explore potential collaborations for raising funds
for the organization.
§
Maintain relationships with existing donors and
respond to their requests regularly and keep updating them about the work of
the organization
§
Organize or provide assistance in organizing any
fundraising events for the organization
§
Suggest other innovative ideas for effective
resource mobilization.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

An interest in medicine, and in free access to
health care;
§
Experience with fundraising, especially in the
health/humanitarian field;
§
Willingness to work voluntarily, with hope of
paid position in the future;
§
Organized, efficient, with superb written
capabilities;
§
Outgoing, friendly, and self-confident;
§
A means to support him/herself in Tanzania
