With 25 operational branches in Tanzania, DTB is now looking for capable and qualified individuals to fill in the following positions:-
2. Head - Risk Management
Reporting to the CEO and working as a key member of the Ban leadership team, the incumbent will take a leadership role in providing independent oversight of policies, procedure and standard concerning the measurement, monitoring and control of market risk (both trading and non-trading) trading credit risk and trading operation risk across OTB's portfolios, He will be responsible to ensure compliance with the Risk Management Guidelines issued by the Bank of Tanzania, He will also report to the Board Risk Management Committee on all the risks that the bank is exposed to. The Head of Risk's main objective is to provide assurance to a variety of stakeholders that risks are appropriately managed and that the institution's risk is within its stated tolerance levels.
Key Responsibilities;
• Monitor risk and communicate information to the Management, Board and other stake holders to ensure the continued effectiveness of the Bank's risk management strategies, policies and procedures. Ensure that risk factors and events are identified and addressed in a cost-effective manner and in line with business objectives.
• Ensure processes and systems are in alignment with the Bank's risk appetite and tolerance levels to support business objectives.
• Ensure all risk related policies are reviewed regularly as per BOT guidelines and Board guidelines.
• Assess risks in all the new initiatives, including IT initiative to pro-actively manage risks.
• Manage the Risk Department and other supervised departments efficiently so that performance goals and objectives are achieved.
• Ensure Compliance with Risk Management Guidelines of the Bank of Tanzania and Board. Develop a risk management program for various functionaries of the Bank and conduct training to ensure that stakeholders understand risk and contribute to the risk management process and to promote a risk-aware culture across DTB.
• Assess the strategic risks in terms offering competitive products and services to enable the bank to retain and improve market share.
Educational qualifications
• Post graduate qualification in Banking, Accounting or Finance e.g. MBA degree or any other relevant.
• Professional qualifications such as ACCA or CPA is an added advantage
Experience & competencies required
• Minimum of 15 years banking experience, with at least 8 years at managerial level in the Risk function.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
• A structured and analytical approach to the risk assessment, mitigation and continuous monitoring.
• Ability to analyses large volume of information and submit the same to the Management / Board with inputs as to the risk quantification, mitigation etc.
• Able to provide advice and cause/effect evaluation to support risk management decisions.
Independent and logical thinker who is able to predict the direction of risks in the operating environment
